Industrial style finds its inspiration in the rugged look of old factories. Contrary to nowadays, in the old days a work environment didn't have to be pleasant, just functional. The fun thing is that this creates a raw look, which can be quite stylish.
Most dwellings can't be compared to a factory in terms of space, but that doesn't have to be an obstacle. Nice, open spaces are great to start with, but you can achieve a lot with the right furniture... and lighting of course.
Which are the lights that fit an industrial interior? Typical factory lights would be a great choice, but there are more subtle ways as well.
Keep in mind that functionality is more important than aesthetics in the industrial style. This means that no efforts are made to hide anything. Pipes, wires, beams, everything is out in the open. Same goes for lighting. Pick a fixture where you can see every bolt, nut or hinge and it will fit perfectly in your industrial home.
Rather keep it simple? You can always go for nice looking bulbs on a plain cord. To add a little bit of factory atmosphere, you can choose one of the pendants from the Segula Xtra Line, which have tiny industrial details.
Not only the industrial accents are important, materials matter as well. Think of metal, preferably with a hint of rust, concrete and rough wood.
The mounting of your lights can also be done a bit rougher than you're used to. Cables don't need to be plastered away, just use cable trays. For suspension you can use a sturdy screw hook and a nice big chain.
